Music video for "LUST" by acid techno producer and DJ Doruksen (Instagram).
Stills from this video were separately exhibited at a gallery show - see bottom of the page.
"Cypriot & London based, Doruksen, is a 23-year-old Acid & Hard Techno persona. Stepping in the scene in early 2021, his expressive style of combining 303 acid basslines with Hard Techno has proven the scene his unique flair.
His breakthrough releases “ACXD” & “Crave” published in the Summer of 2021, has brought mass attention to his distinctive style, and helped solidify his name in the scene. His latest and yet most popular release “Intoxicated” has taken over the Hard Techno scene by storm proving once again his consistency in providing quality music.
His DJing is a fusion of hard genres and dark melodical stories. Blending the wonders of acid with industrial affection, his fascination to 90s techno and hardcore is reflected at his storytelling sets."
Inspired by the heavy lighting effects used in techno clubs and raves, I chose to heavily colourgrade and invert parts of the footage to achieve a psychedelic effect paying hommage to rave and techno culture.
Stills from the music video were also exhibited at AE Kollektivität Vol. 2 - Retinal Rausch gallery show.
From the exhibition text:
Taken from a music video originally created for techno artist Doruksen, these stills have been overlaid and colourised to enhance the kaleidoscopic visual palette associated with hard acid techno - hues and forms flowing into each other, prompting new associations, with original structures still visible but appearing as if viewed through a thick, glowing fog.
The footage for the majority of these stills was shot at a basement rave organised by Mayhem back in 2021, when covid restrictions were just being lifted and the world was starting to look a little less bleak. They embody the feeling that was all around us during this time, the excitement and desire for reunion that was growing stronger as the end to months of isolation was drawing ever closer.
We could hardly await the return to the sweaty basements and grimy nightclubs, to the drunken encounters and late-night escapades, but most of all to the pulsating, all-encompassing sound of electronic music. If you listen closely, you might still hear it resonating through these images.
One of the exhibition prints is available for purchase in my shop.
This exhibition was also the first event at which copies of the Warwick Rave Flyers booklet were available for purchase. See the corresponding page for more details.
